The Advantages Of Operating A Home Based Business

The Advantages Of Operating A Home Based Business

Many nine to fiver’s are bucking the system by starting a home based business. Confinement to a cramped cubby hole in a perpetual maze of dividers is a thing of the past for these entrepreneurs.

So what are some of the perks to having a home based business? To start, you can keep your own hours. Your schedule is as flexible as you are. Need to see the dentist? Make your appointment for whenever. No more waiting around for that first appointment of the day or trying to find an office open after five. Kids have a mid-week soccer game? Not a problem. Better yet, you know that cable repairman that says he’ll show up sometime between 11 am and 4 pm? You can tell him, “That’s perfect.” and really mean it because you’re home all day anyways.

Working from home means that you can now embrace that chronic insomnia that made you late for traditional jobs and left you dozing off during meetings.

Just think of all the money you save by working from home. There’s no need to buy that new suit and impressive pair of heels. Your cat doesn’t care how professional you look. You can work naked if the urge strikes you,( just make sure the blinds are closed or you might get unsolicited visits from your neighbors).

You can save a bundle by eating last night’s leftovers for lunch and buying snacks in bulk at the grocery store instead of making trips to gas stations and fast food joints. Pay on average $0.35 fora a soda instead of $1.19 and watch the saving add up in a year’s time. You might even save enough to buy your own cappuccino maker and say goodbye to your local $5-a-cup coffee shop.

Remember the last time you took your car in for a tune up and the mechanic told you to start car shopping, immediately. Just think of how long your vehicle will last without those daily trips to and from work. Save gas money, get your oil changed twice a year, never replace your tires again! All great perks of a home based business.

The government also gives home businesses fringe benefits in the form of tax breaks. Now, buying that computer you’ve been ogling for months is actually good for business, it can mean better tax breaks at the end of the year. Get money back for your telephone bill, rent and other overhead expenses. And believe it or not, it’s completely legal.

The benefits of basing a business from your home are nearly countless. If a traditional office environment is leaving you stagnant, a home business may be just what the doctor ordered.

Benefiting the Employer: Telecommuting

Benefiting the Employer: Telecommuting

http://westchester.cashflow123.com

What could your employees do if they were not stuck in traffic every single day for two or more hours? Look around you are you yourself are probably stuck in that same workday traffic: there are plenty of executives, data entry personnel, and others who are clogging the roads, yet is their presence at your company really required? Sure, you need a data entry clerk, but does she have to sit at a desk every single day to receive her work assignments? Could they not just as easily be delivered to her? Perhaps you could cut down the amount of time that she spends in the office while giving her the opportunity to work at home.

If your mind is working in that general direction, then you are probably ready to contemplate telecommuting for the people in your office. As an employer, you know that there are numerous benefits for you. While almost everyone thinks about the many advantages this mode of work has for the employee, the other side is rarely considered. Here are some of the most obvious benefits to your operation – and bottom line!

First and foremost you will be able to save on space. Space equals money, and instead of expanding your operation every few years when new personnel needs to be hired on to keep up with the growth of your business, you will be able to continue leasing the same space without making costly renovations to cram more people into the small space. Having a number of telecommuters working for you enables you to stagger the times when they come in and thus three to five workers can share one work station! While the initial cost of setting up several of your qualified employees to telecommute might be off-putting, consider the money you will save in facility related costs, and you will break even very soon.

With the many software innovations, you will no longer have to attend long and drawn out meetings that take time away from the many tasks you could be performing. Instead, online meetings, conference calls, and group emails will permit you to continue your supervision of the projects that are outstanding while at the same time freeing up time for everyone who would normally have to travel to meetings and take up time that could be better spent working on a task.

These are but two of the many facets that make up the advantages telecommuting can offer to the employers. Do not make the mistake of dismissing the idea immediately. Sure, you will need to make sure that the person to whom you entrust this kind of work is disciplined enough to handle it, but once you have found them, you will be sure to reap great benefits.

Benefiting the Company: Telecommuting

Benefiting the Company: Telecommuting

http://westchester.cashflow123.com

When discussing the many benefits of telecommuting, it is almost always a foregone conclusion that it is the employee who benefits from this new mode of doing business. The highlighted points usually involve the employee’s ability to no longer have to waste valuable time being stuck in rush hour traffic, and also the fringe benefit of being home when children are coming home from school. While this is undeniably true, some of the benefits that are associated with telecommuting do not just have to do with the employee, but also the employer. Such benefits include the ability make do with less office space, and to put the employee into a mutually ownership position of her or his work, so that customers and clients will receive a greater level of service.

Yet very often the many benefits available to the company at large are overlooked. While the employer itself may only be one dot on the map for a large company, the overall benefits that will befall the company that makes telecommuting a company-wide opportunity for qualified employees cannot be overlooked. When one small satellite office of the company succeeds, it is always a good time to see what works there that might work in other markets as well. Productivity is almost always the first litmus test that must be met for a satellite office to be considered successful, while fiscal savings rank as a close second.

A company will benefit undisputedly from telecommuting workers on a number of levels. First and foremost is the fact that employees no longer feel chained to their desks by an eight to five schedule. Sure, a worker may take a longer lunch, stop by the neighbor’s fence to chat for a bit, and perhaps even mow the yard during regular working hours, but on the upside this same worker is much more likely to remain at his or her computer and continue working until a project is finished than will be the worker who still has to fight traffic on the way home. Similarly, the telecommuting worker is much more likely to pick up the work again after family obligations have been met in the evening than it is likely for the office worker to once again get into the car and return to the office to complete a certain project.

Another savings opportunity presents itself when you consider the reduced employee turnover your company will experience. After all, telecommuting jobs are hard to come by and it is not surprising that these employees will work harder to ensure that the company will be satisfied with their performance to ensure that their position itself is safe. All in all, telecommuting is truly a win-win situation for the employer, employee, and the parent company.

Benefiting the Employee: Telecommuting

Benefiting the Employee: Telecommuting

http://westchester.cashflow123.com

As an employee you know how much time is wasted each day. The wastefulness begins before you even set foot inside your office! You are stuck in traffic for hours on end, and instead of being on the telephone talking with customers and clients you are forced to inch at a snail’s pace closer to the exit that will take you to yet another clogged highway. It is therefore no surprise that so many employees clamor to get a chance a telecommuting. If you have what it takes to work diligently and without direct supervision of others, then this mode of work will most likely yield great benefits for your. Some of these benefits are of course quite obvious: the ability to spend time with your family is perhaps the one advantage most often
mentioned by those who telecommute.

Yet the very fact that you will be able to take a greater sense of ownership from the job will spur you on to give it your all. You will most likely work even more closely with customers and clients to cultivate the important relationships that ensure future growth for the company and that will also help you to personally reap grater profits by establishing that one on one relationship so many consumers crave. Add to this the heightened productivity you will experience as a result of no longer being subject of the traffic congestion that is so frequently found everywhere, and you can see how your personal sales will begin to take off!

Some wagging tongues will attempt to belittle your efforts, and quite possibly even make you feel guilty for taking a coffee break, taking Rover for a quick walk, or simply for doing a load of laundry in between assignments. While in excess your critics would be right, in moderation these activities actually benefit the employer. Short breaks and a change of scenery are akin to the trip to the kitchen at work to refill your coffee. You get away from everything for a bit, exercise, and then return quite often with a fresh perspective and ready to give it even more of an effort.

Interestingly, one of the greatest benefits to telecommuting for the employee is rarely mentioned: the fact that disturbances by other employees are all but eliminated. You know how frustrating it can be when suddenly someone enters your office to chat, or to ask for your help with a task, or simply because they want to discuss an aspect of a project with you. While necessary activities, they can be greatly curtailed by telecommuting, thus allowing you to complete your assignments faster and with much greater efficiency. This in turn might allow you a bit of leisure time toward the end of the day that you would not have been able to realize otherwise.

Taking Your Kids To Work: A Look At The Home Based Business

Taking Your Kids To Work: A Look At The Home Based Business
Copyright © Michael Durrant

http://westchester.cashflow123.com

More and more women are leaving the corporate world behind to try their hand at traditional homemaking. Being a wife and homemaker is a considerable responsibility in itself. Many women choose to work outside of the home to supplement their husband’s income and experience personal fulfillment through success in their chosen profession. The two income family is now the norm.

With the arrival of the first bundle of joy, comes many conflicting emotions and struggles. The wife and mother must now juggle attention to her husband, cooking, cleaning, shopping, errands, and motherhood with her career. Their desire may be to nurture and protect her children and husband nut the expectations and time constraints imposed upon her often force her to compromise those desires. This can result in guilt and depression in the over burdened woman.

It may not be a coincidence that divorce has become more prevalent and children more delinquent since the rise of two income families. Women are often finding themselves drained emotionally and physically from the dysfunctional patterns of behavior that are imposed on them by today’s society. Many women are fighting back by starting a home based business.

By working from home, women can now set their own hours, save time and money and spend more time with their children. With a little help, home based businesses can bring in a decent supplemental income with less hassles than the corporate world offers. Mothers can hire part time nannies instead of full time sitters and can arrange for childcare to be done in their own homes. This allows peace of mind for the mother and a chance to squeeze in quality time with the children during breaks, have picnic lunches on the lawn and never miss another chance to kiss away a fresh boo boo.

Hiring some childcare help during busy seasons in your business can help you keep your sanity. On slower days, the children can so quite well if they are kept in a structured environment and on a schedule. This takes preparation. Plan quiet times around favorite television shows, set up crafts and activities that require minimal supervision and intervention on your part. Prepare snacks and sippy cups in advance so toddlers can help themselves when hunger strikes. By keeping mealtime and naps on a schedule, you can be better prepared to give an estimated time for that conference call or know when a meeting time is absolutely out of the question.

No mother wants a stranger raising her children. Deciding to work at home with your children can be a wonderful compromise that allows you quiet those conflicting emotions of being torn between work and motherhood.

Supporting Your Spouse As They Begin A Christian Home Based Business

Supporting Your Spouse As They Begin A Christian Home Based Business
Copyright © Michael Durrant

http://westchester.cashflow123.com

Your beloved spouse comes home from another day at the grind and announces, “I’ve had enough! I’m going into business for myself.” Before you start hoarding food and stashing money in the mattress, stop and pray.

Remember that God is sovereign and that He will provide for you. This new venture may be exactly what God has planned for your life. Surrender your will to Christ and pray. He may give you a peace that calms your fears and alleviates your concerns. Anxiety is a natural reaction to change, but as Christians we are to fight back with God’s truth.

The changes that come about in your spouse may surprise you, especially if they are following a prompting from God to leave the traditional work force. Pray with your spouse and be honest about your feelings. Discuss your excitement over the possibilities that a new business can provide. Vent your frustrations and fears about the changes and instability that will come in days ahead. Keep the communication open, between you and your spouse, and you and God.

This does not mean putting on a smile no matter what happens and ignoring the realities around you. It does mean that you should live beyond your circumstances and trust God. Be supportive of your spouse through the ups and downs. Encourage each other, pray together, talk with other couples who have started a home business together.

Do some research in your spouse’s chosen area of business. Learn the associated jargon. Be familiar with the product or service provided by the business. Make yourself available to help with menial tasks like errands and printing shipping labels. Talk up your spouses’s bravery and professionalism every chance you get. Announce the birth of your new business at church, to your friends and family, to anyone who will listen. Be your spouse’s biggest fan. You will need to be knowledgeable of the business so that you can take calls on busy days and answer questions on the street when approached by curious neighbors and passers by.

Go to the library and research small business management and marketing, condense the books into a divided binder full of notes on the topics your have researched. You can present it to your spouse as a “business warming” gift. This information should be easy to read and condensed down to useful facts. You can even sneak in personal notes of encouragement, scripture verses or inspirational quotes.

Going the extra mile to show interest in what is important to your spouse will help hold you together through the storms of life and will allow you ti build a strong, Christ centered business that can be passed down for generations to come.

Staying Sane While Starting A Home Business

Staying Sane While Starting A Home Business

http://westchester.cashflow123.com

Starting a new business can be a harried experience. There are a myriad of decisions to be made, the budget needs stretched, the new secretary quits before the end of the first week: the struggles are endless. When starting a business from your home, you can add a slew of unique challenges to the list. Being aware of the potential pitfalls, and preparing for them can provide a way of preserving your sanity.

Friends and family members frequently assume that if you are home, you are available. Nothing can set your work back hours, faster than an unplanned visit from your mother. Setting clear boundaries regarding your schedule and availability for phone calls and visits can prevent misunderstandings early on in the life of your business.

If you are choosing to keep your small children home with you while you work, that carefully planned schedule can quickly become fodder for your three year old. Getting up early is often the best way to increase your productivity while those little angels are still slumbering away.

Having a contingency plan for days when the work load requires more attention than usual is an excellent way to head off disasters before they happen. Find local babysitters who are willing to come to your home to help out when needed. Recruit friends and family to provide occasional entertainment for short periods of time to allow you to work without interruptions. Anything that helps you keep focused is a good investment in preserving your sanity.

Running a business from your home has a few perks, especially at tax time. Consulting with a tax expert or accountant early on will arm you with the knowledge necessary to save you time and money when filing your first year’s business taxes.

Finding service providers that are both competent and trustworthy is a lesson in perseverance. The business directories, internet advertisements and even newspaper ads are clogged with scams and incapable providers. Seeking the advice of a seasoned home business veteran can be your salvation. Word of mouth will reveal strengths and problems with service providers.

If you find that you have chosen poorly and end up with a full sized, ten year old copier in your den instead of that sleek, all-in-one model with all the bells and whistles that you paid for, don’t despair. Don’t back down either. You can explain your dissatisfaction firmly and politely while explaining that the services were not acceptable. If after bringing the blunder to the business’ attention, you are still left feeling cold, you can report the offender to the Better Business Bureau: and call for legal advice.

Using good old common sense, a little street smarts and a lot of charm and honesty will help your achieve your business goals, while allowing you to keep your sanity and your home life intact.

Starting A Home Business Can Be Fun

Starting A Home Business Can Be Fun

Copyright © Michael Durrant

http://westchester.cashflow123.com

There are many reasons that you might want to start a home business. If you are good at something or if you have something that you can offer to others, a home business is a great way to make money in order to support yourself while you are doing as much for others as you possibly can. If you want to start a home business, here are some tips to make sure that it goes over smoothly.

First of all, make sure that it is something you are interested in. This is quite important because this business is going to take up a lot of your time and energy, especially at the very beginning. It is very important that you are embarking on an adventure that you are actually going to enjoy. Often, when someone starts up a home business, they need to work for many hours each day to get the business off the ground and up and running. If you can make sure that you are starting up a business in an area that interests you, you are going to find that you are having a much better time making this a reality for yourself.

Also, you should remember that your business should be completely planned out before you start to work on it. You need to know if it is going to be something that you can do on your own or if you are going to need help from employees. You should be able to find out if you can structure your time around your business or if you are going to have to make adjustments to your schedule.

Make sure that you have all of the contracts worked up, and that you have all of the tax information squared away before you even begin to market your business or sell a product or perform a service. You should make sure that you are getting everything set up first because this is the best way to make sure that you are making the most out of your time.

Last, remember to have fun! The best part of owning a home business is to make sure that you are having fun and that you are enjoying yourself. The only way that you can truly be independent and truly love what you are doing is if you make it something that is enjoyable for you, and if you have fun with it. That is the way to truly enjoy work and to enjoy the way that you are making your living. Remember that this is something that will hopefully be with you for a long time to come, so you should make it count and do the best that you can do!

Setting Up An Online Store

Setting Up An Online Store

Copyright © Michael Durrant

http://westchester.cashflow123.com

It seems like online stores are all the rage lately. There are many places online where you can buy things and where you can make other types of purchases. There are sites that sell new items, sites that sell old items, and sites that sell a combination of the both. If you want to work at home, and you are thinking of setting up an online store in order to do so, there are several things that you might want to keep in mind as you embark on this adventure.

First of all, you should choose goods that you have an interest in. If you are a big book reader, for instance, maybe you should sell used books online. If you have another interest, try to figure out a way to work your interests into your online store. This is important because you are going to be able to take control over your online store and make sure that you are selling what you want to sell, and if it is something that you are interested in, chances are good that you are going to find yourself more involved.

After you have decided what your online store is going to be selling, you need to figure out where you should get your products. Are you going to buy them around your town, or are you yourself going to order them online? Wherever you are getting your products from, you have to make sure that you are able to get products cheap. The best way to make sure that you are going to make a profit is to try to buy items in bulk so that you have many of them. Often you’ll be able to buy items much more cheaply if you buy a lot of them at once, and shipping costs will be reduced, as well. Then, you can sell the items individually to buyers online and make a profit that way. Since a person is only buying one item, they will pay more for it than you paid for it when you bought it in bulk.

Now you are ready to set up your store. You need an online space with a name that you can easily have people remember, and then you need to begin the marketing. Try to do as much as possible so that your name and your address are in as many places as they can be. Once you have started to get some business, you can continue to sell items and get even more business. The key to being successful is having a product that people want and being able to market it in a way that is going to make you money in the end.

The Problems Associated With Being Self Employed #2

The Problems Associated With Being Self Employed

Copyright © Michael Durrant

http://westchester.3stepsecret.com

Do you have the right personality to be self employed? If you are determined, driven to achieve your goal, and able to keep your vision in the crosshairs at all times, then you will most likely be on your way. If less than complimentary clients and even those who harshly criticize your ideas do not deter you from trying, but perhaps are actually spurring you on to try even harder, then you are most certainly on your way to success. Yet what about the financial ability to see it through – are you ready? Can you weather an equipment failure, loss of data, and the need for upgraded equipment without having to resort to using your personal credit cards? Are you able to survive if one or more client do not pay you one time but leave you hanging for a few months?

If you answered yes to the first two questions you may be well on your way to self employment, yet you are not quite there! There are still some problems associated with being self employed that you need to be aware of before bidding farewell to your boss. Perhaps one of the biggest fear factors is the IRS. These initials are sufficient to drive the fear of doing business into even the most hardened entrepreneurs, and you may be no exception. After all, you will need to be meticulously organized and instead of only paying taxes once a year, you will find yourself at the taxman’s office every quarter. Furthermore, you will need to be prepared to pay your Medicare and FICA and up that point in time of being self employed, it was your boss’ responsibility to do so. Before dismissing that guaranteed paycheck, make sure you will be able to traverse the narrow path the IRS has set forth for the self employed.

On a personal note, self employment for those with family is fraught with another set of problems. A steady paycheck keeps a family well supported and many money worries at bay, while self employment may be more akin to times of feast or famine. Are your family members willing to help you achieve your dream of being self employed? Do they understand the implications of no longer being able to count on the bi-weekly direct deposit in the bank account? It is imperative that everyone involved knows what the changes will mean and get on board with you. Failure to paint an honest picture will result in misunderstandings, feelings of betrayal, and such an increase in strife that you will find yourself scouring the help wanted ads simply to keep peace in the family. Sorting this out ahead of time ensures that everyone is on the same page and ready and willing to support your dream and perhaps even make it their own!

The Problems Associated With Being Self Employed

The Problems Associated With Being Self Employed

Copyright © Michael Durrant

http://westchester.3stepsecret.com

The dream of being successfully self-employed is quite possibly innate to anyone who is employed. The idea of having the artistic freedom necessary to create winning marketing campaigns is probably one of the most often cited reasons why an employee would much rather prefer to be their own boss. Another reason is the fact that the relationship between employer and employee has broken down at some level and the employee realizes that certain needs have not been met and most certainly will remain unmet while in the employ of the company. Yet self employment itself is a bit of a double edged sword and not everyone is cut out for this mode of earning a living. If you are contemplating this step so as to work from home and throw off the shackles that corporate employment has become to you, think long and hard if you are truly ready.

There are a set of problems associated with being self employed, and perhaps the biggest obstacle a novice faces is his or her own self. Having a dream is easy; yet making this dream a reality demands a certain level of self discipline. Some personality types are not able to transit from reporting to a boss to reporting to no one yet remaining just as driven. Additionally, some personality types that benefited from the buffer the employer presented when it came to relationships with clients or customers, will sorely find their patience tested when a new client harshly criticizes the marketing strategy you present to them. Especially if you are in an artistic field, some of these criticisms could feel like personal attacks or even personal rejection, making this form of employment almost harder than working for someone else.

The second problem you will face is the question as to who will bankroll your endeavor. After all, it is not enough to have a great idea. You probably also have bills, a family to feed, and if nothing else the daily needs that have to be fulfilled. The number one challenge associated with this step is the fact that many a newbie will use credit cards to get set up. Yet the problems do not end there. How much liquidity you have at the onset will also determine your overall success since it dictates whether or not you can live with the fact that one client is taking an extraordinary long period of time to finally pay you. If one or maybe even more slow clients spell financial trouble to such an extent that you have to touch your retirement savings or home equity, you might not yet be ready for self employment. It is important to begin being your own boss from a position of strength, not weakness.

The Professional Fulfillment of Self Employment

The Professional Fulfillment of Self Employment

Copyright © Michael Durrant

http://westchester.3stepsecret.com

Have you toyed with the idea of self employment? The odds are quite good that you have at least considered it in passing, but perhaps you were not sure if your skills were the kinds of abilities that would permit you to embark in business for yourself and successfully feed your family. Additionally, you might have wondered if indeed it would be possible to market a product without having a large marketing department stand behind you, and a second party paying your wages until the marketing campaigns prove themselves to be fruitful. Yet when you see those who have already embarked onto the road of self employment, you notice that while personal fulfillment most certainly ranks quite high in their satisfaction rating, there is also a sense of professional fulfillment.

The reasons are easily understood. Professional fulfillment comes from a job done well. You will have proven to yourself and the world that you can not only take an existing product – for example – and then devise a working marketing strategy, implement it, and follow through with strong sales. If you have previously done something similar for an employer, you will have the added satisfaction of no longer needing the boss to succeed. In a way this very thought will most likely have spurred you on to take greater risks, make bigger gambles, and no longer play it safe – only to be rewarded with success!

Your professional fulfillment begins with the fact that you will have proven to anyone beyond the shadow of a doubt that you are a force to be reckoned with and that you can do a job better than an already established company. Add to this the financial benefits, and your sense of professional success only skyrockets! How many have told you that for a long time you would be operating in the red and perhaps that you would never see a plus instead of a minus in front of your numbers? With your success you will have proven all of them wrong!

As you can see, there is no end to the sense of professional fulfillment that can be garnered simply from being self employed. So go ahead and take another look at that dream that you might have thought was impossible to fulfill and instead dust it off and give it the old college try. Take the time to dot your “i” and cross your “t” and spend countless hours in the office of a certified public accountant that will make sure you’re your tax obligations are met, and that you will not suffer any kind of liability problem. Take the challenge to wave good bye to your boss! You may very well be glad that you did!

Marketing is an important aspect of any business. Home based businesses are no exception. Here are a few tips on promoting your home business.

1. Personalize your business cards with a company logo. Be sure to include email addresses and website URL on the front.

2. If you sell a product, carry several samples with you. Attach a business card to the front. You’ll be prepared the next time someone asks you “ What do you do for a living?”. Hand them a sample along with your contact information so they know how to get more.

3.Collect email addresses from everyone. Contact information can be as good as money in the bank.

4. Start a monthly newsletter filled with updates and special promotions for your products and services. Snail mail it and email it out to every address in your data base.

5. Learn to write good copy. If you don’t have time to educate yourself, hire an exceptional copy writer to assist you. Good copy makes a difference between booming business and lost sales.

6.Request testimonials form experts in your line of work, than use them to promote your business.

7.Publish your business in every available marketing directory in your area.

8. Word of mouth can make or break a business. Talk up your business when in public and enlist friends and family members to do the same.

9. If you don’t have one already, get a website. Keep it low key, professional, easy to navigate and full of quality content. Don’t overuse graphics and flashy plug ins that slow down the time it takes for your page to load. Spend some time creating a catchy headline or slogan for your business. Now would be the time to use the copy writer again. List your web site with directories like Google , Yahoo and Inktomi. Make sure you read the webmaster’s guidelines and ensure that your website conforms to the search engines terms of service.

10. Get the word out about your business online by joining discussion forums related to your area of business. Post links back to your website and exchange links with other businesses that compliment your service. Avoid associating your site with fly-by-night or shady businesses. Only allow your links to be posted on high quality, reputable sites. Only post links on your site to businesses or websites that you have researched thoroughly. This can improve your page ranking and help you move up on the search engine results page.

11.Procure advertising space in your local newspaper “above the fold”. Check into hiring a professional speaker to read a specially prepares script advertising your business(once again, consult that excellent copy writer) and have your new radio commercial played during prime listening times. If you can only afford a few minutes of radio time, it is still a good investment.

Marketing Your Home Business

Marketing Your Home Business

Good for you, you’ve decided to open up a home business. Who knew that you could actually get it started and that you’d be able to follow through with it – well you have! Give yourself a pat on the back, and take a breather. But only a quick one, because one you have started up a home business, the hard part isn’t anywhere near finished.

As soon as you have started up your home business, you need to begin to market it. T his is something that you might not have even thought of, but it is something that needs to be done right away because this is where you are going to get your key clients from. Remember that this isn’t as hard as you might think it is. In fact, marketing your home business can be a snap, if you follow some key ideas.

First of all, you need to determine who your key audience is. Are you going to be marketing to kids, to adults, or to another age bracket? Are you going to market more to men or women or both? Is there anything else about your clientele that separates them from the world at large?

Once you have decided who you are going to be targeting, you can begin to market. There are several ways to do this. If your business is based in a large city or somewhere that has a lot of traffic, you can do other kinds or marketing like flyers, signs, and other print media. However, if you are running a business that is mostly online, and you hope that most of your clients will come from the internet, there are several things that you should do to make sure that marketing is a success.

First of all, you should place adds on web pages that you know will get seen by your key demographic. Find some popular sites for the group of people that you have to target and try to get some advertising on those sites. Also look for pages that everyone will see, and try to get as many links out there as possible that have your name and your businesses name on them.

You are also going to want to make sure that you are posting blogs and other articles all over the internet that somehow relate back to you. Get your name out there, do some surfing of your own. If you are in a certain type of business, go to some boards that deal with that business, and post on them with your internet address in your signature. The more advertising that you can do, the more people are going to see your website and hopefully click on the link to visit your page.

Of course, there are the obvious ways. You can sell products or services online and make money this way. This works if you have a basement full of stuff you want to get rid of, or if you know of some places where you can buy things cheaply that can be sold for more money. Lots of times people take a long time to figure out what they want to sell on line but once they do they find themselves making quite a bit of money.

There are other things that you can do to make money online. For instance, you can allow advertising to be on your site, and you can make a part of the profits for these adds. If you have lot of sites that get lots of traffic, for whatever reason, you can make some money by allowing adds to be put on your sites. Some of the adds will get you money whenever they are clicked on, and others will get you a small amount of money just for being on the site.

There are also things that you can do to make money online. There are many online jobs that you can get, as long as you are sure you are doing the research so that you are not being scammed in any way and the jobs are actually jobs that you are capable of doing. If you can find some of these small jobs, you can quickly add them up to a bigger pay check. For instance, there are some jobs that will pay you for going to different forums and adding in on the discussions. If you like to go and talk online, this is a great way to get money because you are getting paid to do something that you might do anyway.

Try not to stress too much about making lots of money online right away. This is something that builds up over time and something that takes a lot of practice. IT takes awhile to find the sites that will pay you to do certain things, and it takes time to make sure that the work you are doing is not worth more than you are being paid. Once you have established some basic jobs and you are able to do them quickly and easily, you are going to find that making money online is much easier than you thought it was.

Joys of Working at Home

Joys of Working at Home
Copyright © Michael Durrant

http://westchester.3stepsecret.com

In the fast paced job market, it might seem like there is never enough time to do what you really want to do – be at home with your families and take care of what you need to take care of while you are there. Luckily, now there are many ways that you can work from home. There are many joys of being able to work from home, and make enough money to actually make it worth it.

First of all, if you have children, you are going to get to be there for them during the day when they are young, and after school when they are older. You will never get the chance to be there for your children again, because once they grow up, that’s it! So, you should take every opportunity to be near them and take care of them when they are young. Also, by working from home, you can make sure that you aren’t having to pay for child care. Most of the time, people end up spending the money that they make working directly on child care, and unless they love their jobs and need to do their jobs, it simply isn’t worth it for someone to work part time just enough to pay someone else to take care of their kids while they are working. Think about how nice it would be to be able to actually make money, and not need to spend any of it on childcare.

Also, there is a certain freedom that comes along with working from home. By being at home and staying at home you are there to tackle things that come up and to keep a handle on the way that the house operates. You are there to be in charge. No more leaving in the dark and coming home after the sun has set for the day. And no more trying to do all of the house work and chores on the weekends. You can simply allow yourself to be at home and enjoy the life that you are living.

Remember that the best part of working at home is getting to do the things that you really enjoy and getting to do them in your own environment. Nothing can beat the fact that you are going to be able to stay at home with your family and with your house chores, and still be able to make just as much money as if you were working at a job for 40 hours a week. There are many ways that you can work from home, and getting to know what these ways are is just the beginning to a successful career.

Time Management Tools for Those Earning Extra Income At Home

Time Management Tools for Those Earning Extra Income At Home

Working at home to earn some extra income is a blessing for most, but for some it can become a nightmare in very little time. While it may seem odd that you need to incorporate time management tools in your effort to make ends meet by simply working from a location where you are already – your home – it is imperative that you remember that structured time will be by far more productive than simply working as the mood hits you. Similarly, if you are not on the top of your game with simple time management devices, you might quite possibly find yourself at the end of the day with precious little to show for the deadlines you need to meet the next morning. Miss a few deadlines, and the odds are that you will lose that wonderful business opportunity that allows you to earn extra income while working at home.

Time management tools are greatly varied, depending on your needs. Thus, it is quite possible to create a plan that works for you individually as well as for the task you will be performing. To this end, quite possibly the most important technique that will help you to remain focused while earning the extra income is to set an objective for each day that you have work to do at home. Define your goal for the, identify which projects need to be completed and how you need to pace yourself to see them through to completion. The easiest way to achieve this is simply by breaking down your project into its varied components, assigning time values to them and then meeting these deadlines one at a time. The small sense of accomplishment you will feel when you achieve one or more of the deadlines will go a long ways to
ensuring that you do not suffer from burnout or other frustrations which will take the joy out of earning extra income.

One of the most overlooked time management tools for those working earning income is the schedule and calendar. It is not enough to simply block out a period time that you will use to work, but you will need to augment this block with reminders, as well as frequent breaks; after all, earning extra income simply means that you have another source of income and working two jobs may be more than you bargained for when you took on this opportunity. Adding frequent breaks to your schedule is a good idea. This also permits you to interact with friends and family who will not mind the extra income you are earning as long as it does not interfere with your ability to also spend time with them. In the long run, this form of scheduling will benefit
you as much as it benefits them.

Making the Most of a Business Opportunity

Making the Most of a Business Opportunity
Copyright © Michael Durrant

http://westchester.3stepsecret.com

The Internet is home of the business opportunity ad. While some are not legit, others do have the potential of netting you a pretty penny. Once you have found such an opportunity, it is important that you make the most of it – but to do so wisely, you will need to observe a few tips and tricks that will not only help you to earn money, but also protect you from losing any of your hard earned cash in the process.

When you are starting out in pursuit of your business opportunity, you will need to juggle your full time job and your extracurricular pursuit. While it might be tempting to throw caution to the wind, quit your job and pursue the opportunity full time, it is extremely unwise to do so. You will still have bills, and if you have a family, it is unfair to expect them to suddenly make do without the little extras they have come to appreciate. Instead, go ahead and work your regular job while expanding on your business opportunity. This will prevent you from having to give up after a few unsuccessful months with maxed out credit cards.

Building a business takes time, and if you involve friends and family, you will probably be able to do so a lot faster. Of course, this should not mean that you try to peddle your nutritional supplements that are part of the business you are building at every family reunion. Instead, you might be able to involve some family members in the business end itself. Do you need help with taxes? Maybe an aunt is good at doing them! Do you have questions about licenses and insurance? If you have a stay at home dad who is willing to do some work in exchange for a bit of money, these headaches could be taken away from you. In short, rare is the entrepreneur who makes money all by her or himself from the basement, yet plentiful is the entrepreneur who – with the help of friends and family – succeeded!

Your business opportunity requires exposure, yet there is more to advertising than paying for a three by five ad in the local rag. Instead, attend trade shows, hand out flyers, print up business cards (not the free ones that carry another company’s logo on the back) and network with other entrepreneurs. Do not stay home when you are trying to build a business, but instead go to where the business world is located and get out the word! This ensures that you will truly make the most of your business opportunity without having to spend money you may not yet have earned on costly advertisements that may not be as effective as you had hoped.

Are Home Based Businesses Encouraging Social Isolation?

Are Home Based Businesses Encouraging Social Isolation?
Copyright © Michael Durrant

http://westchester.3stepsecret.com

Sociologists have studied what has been termed “cocooning” very carefully since the explosion of the world wide web. Cocooning is the process of social isolation where a society withdraws from physical interaction with each other. This “hermit-like” behavior can lead to the decline of many cultural and social traditions. Cocooning also affects the way we interact with other when do finally leave the house and meet face to face.

The availability and popularity of the internet has changed the way that humans communicate and interact. We can spend hours in chat rooms pretending to be beautiful, successful and brilliant when in fact we are average looking, overweight and unemployed. The person at the other end of the keyboard has no way of verifying our claims or disproving them.

Discussion over the internet removes an essential aspect of communication: body language. Such things as posturing, fidgeting and eye contact all are unconscious transmitters of our true intentions. We learn as small children not to make eye contact when telling a lie and to cross our arms to distance ourselves from unpleasant people or situations. As of today, the computer screen has no way of converting these communication skills into data that can be observed as overtones in the written text of a conversation.

This cocooning may affect the communication skills of future generations. While excelling at expressing themselves through the written word, our children may lack the skills to give a convincing speech in public of carry on a comfortable conversation while waiting in line at the grocery store. Some youth even use text messaging to communicate when they are in the same room.

The prevalence of home based businesses may be in part due to this preference for cocooning and nonverbal communication. It is perfectly acceptable to home school your children, run a business from your home, email your mother and fax your clients. You can even order a pizza, shop for a birthday gift and have your groceries delivered: all without any verbal communication.

As in everything in life, a balance is needed. If you email your mother today, call her tomorrow and visit her on the weekend. If you work from home, make time to visit the park. Join social groups rather that internet message forums. Limit the amount of time that your children use the internet and cell phone for text messaging. Encourage teens to take a speech or debate class along with that computer programming class when signing up for college courses.

Many great social traditions like wedding rituals and back yard barbeques may someday soon be in danger of extinction. We all must do our part to keep the spark of social interraction alive for future generations.

Understanding the Pitfalls for Affiliate Marketing

Understanding the Pitfalls for Affiliate Marketing
Copyright © Michael Durrant

http://westchester.3stepsecret.com

While work at home moms are often the favorite target for Internet scammers, website owners are a close second. You own a website and are possibly paying a bit of money to keep the site running. Do you not wish you could make some money with the website you work so hard to maintain? Imagine how wonderful it would be if you could you’re your hobby into a real business that would not only pay for itself, but even offer you a few extras that could be put to good use for the kids, or your family. To a webmaster, affiliate marketing is almost always the answer to this dilemma. In and of itself, affiliate marketing is a wonderful opportunity share in the profits of a
reputable company by displaying their links and banners, and allowing interested parties to visit those sites and perhaps purchase a product. When they do so, the company will often offer you a small percentage of the sale
as a finder’s fee.

Yet there is a bit of a seedy underbelly to the affiliate marketing industry that will actually jeopardize your good name as a webmaster and will also result in payouts that are pennies on the dollar. For example, have you ever been surfing the web only to suddenly stumble across a website that touts an amazing nutritional supplement that does it all? Weight loss for the overweight, hair growth for the bald, an increased sexual stamina for those lacking it and a host of other items are cured or corrected with a pill after breakfast, lunch and dinner. These miracle cures are touted on the website via a long list of testimonials, and you can almost always recognize the feel of these sites simply by the long list of text they sport, the varying fonts employed, and also the different colors these words are written in. you may simply shrug your shoulders at such a site until – about halfway down – you see a copy of a commission check the webmaster has posted and suddenly he or she has your undivided attention. The check is small enough to be realistic yet big enough to have you consider what you could to with the money and how it could ease the tension at home from lack of disposable income.

When you are hooked, the spiel usually involves a site owner who is so successful that he or she has decided to take on two or three qualified novices and train them to do the business as well. This involves selling the miracle product to your friends and neighbors and then just sitting back and waiting for the money to roll in. Additionally, you will need to post banners on your website. What has just happened, in a nutshell, is an affiliate scam that ties your success directly into a multi-level marketing scheme. While your links will attract more interested parties to the originator’s website, you are meanwhile alienating your friends and families by the legal drugs you are peddling. This is not what affiliate marketing is all about, and it is important that you understand the implications of your putting links or banners of any business on your website.
